It was a rough night last night as tornadoes, hail and rain devastated Berthoud Colorado damaging over 12 homes and destroying 3 homes. We were out last night covering the storm and bringing you our pictures as well as this morning. Very sad for the residents of Berthoud, especially those who lost their homes.
Driving around Berthoud, many home owners were loading their livestock into trailers to move them to another location, while others looked like they were packing up before the storm hits this afternoon.
Three foot diameter trees were split like toothpicks while other trees that were decades old, were entirely uprooted.
Last night the sky was green with hail. Iyt made your heart race watching the super cell from miles away.
Flooding is going to be a major problem tonight. The lakes, rivers, drains and irrigation ditches are full. Here is a picture ofr a lake with the tops of trees sticking out the water.
Here is another picture of a bridge that can't handle much more water.
We have more pictures and some video of the storm which we will release either today, or tomorrow. We should also point out that many roads in Berthoud are still closed. Most around Blue Mountain Avenue where most of the damage occured. So if your traveling in Berthoud, give yourself extra time.
Stay tuned to RonCaskey.com today and tomorrow for more storm pictures and video that we collected.
